San Vicente de la Barquera
San Vicente de la Barquera is one of those places that, although it is still unknown to many, is not usually missing from the list of essential destinations in northern Spain.
Located in the heart of the Saja-Nansa Region, the town features a range of ingredients that is difficult to match: rich heritage, beautiful coastal landscapes, quiet beaches, exquisite gastronomy and unique traditions.
In fact, the mention of San Vicente de la Barquera brings to mind its estuary, its views of the Picos de Europa mountains and the Puente de la Maza bridge that seems to guard its entrance.
Here, you can visit historical sites such as the so-called King’s Castle (“Castillo del Rey”) or the Church of Santa María de los Ángeles, but also spectacular places such as Oyambre Nature Park. This makes it the perfect base to get to explore the region.
